No one mourns the Wicked!

Que Nova York tem a Broadway e é cheia de musicais incríveis todo mundo sabe, mas também não podemos esquecer do West End, em Londres, que é a maior área de teatros do mundo e o centro do teatro comercial no Reino Unido. E é claro que eu, como uma boa louca por musicais, não deixaria de passar lá, não?

Eu e a Camila vamos contar um pouco aqui no blog sobre os musicais que fomos assistir: ela, na Broadway, e eu no West End. Algo meio crítica, meio resenha, mas na verdade é só a nossa opinião. Opinião de duas loucas que adoram estar na platéia, mas ficam se coçando mesmo é pra estar no palco.

No dia 29 de abril eu fui assistir Wicked, no Apollo Victoria Theatre. Comprei o ingresso uns três dias antes e consegui um preço bem bom: £17.75! Fiquei num lugar bem afastado do palco por motivos de pobreza, claro, mas como o teatro é bem grande e inclinado, eu ainda assim tinha uma visão ótima do palco!

Para quem não sabe, o musical conta a história de Elphaba (A Bruxa Má do Oeste) e Glinda (A Bruxa Boa), antes da chegada de Dorothy na Terra de Oz.  A história começa logo após a morte da Bruxa Má do Leste, quando a casa de Dorothy cai em cima dela, e a partir daí é feita uma retrospectiva para entendermos a história de Elphaba e Glinda e como elas de conheceram e se tornaram amigas. O espetáculo é maravilhoso e tem um elenco incrível, tanto a parte vocal quanto teatral. Eu virei instantaneamente fã da Gina Beck, a atriz que interpreta Glinda. Ela me fez gargalhar várias vezes e tem um trabalho muito bom!

Na escola, Glinda é uma garota muito bonita e popular que acaba virando colega de quarta de Elphaba, uma estranha garota verde e sem nenhum trato social. Com o convívio, as duas acabam virando amigas e Glinda diz que fará de Elphaba seu novo projeto: vai ensina-la a ser popular, mas não tanto quanto ela, é claro! Apesar de, a primeira vista, Glinda parecer uma Sharpay da vida (sim, referências de High School Musical, me julguem), ela é na verdade um personagem muito doce. Uma das músicas mais bonitas do espetáculo é "For Good", um dueto entre Glinda e Elphaba e a prova da amizade delas.

Wicked é um musical esplêndido e valeu muito a pena! Iria certamente outra vez se o dinheiro me permitisse, mas como ainda tenho uma lista gigante de musicais a serem assistidos, acho meio difícil. Mas é um espetáculo que eu certamente indico para quem tiver a oportunidade de assistir.

That New York has Broadway and is full of amazing musicals everybody knows, but we can not forget the West End in London, which is the largest theater district in the world and the center of commercial theater in the UK. And of course I, like a good musicalholic, would not fail to go there, would I?

Camila and I will tell you here on the blog a bit about the musical that we went to watch: she, on Broadway and me in the West End. It's going to be something through criticism, through review, but in fact is only our opinion. Opinion from two crazy girls who love being in the audience, but really wanted to be on stage.

On April 29th I went to see Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre. I bought the ticket three days before and got a pretty good price: £17.75! I was in a place a little far from the stage for reasons of poverty, of course, but as the theater is quite large and slanted, I still had a great view of the stage!

For those unaware, the musical tells the story of Elphaba (The Wicked Witch of the West) and Glinda (The Good Witch), before the arrival of Dorothy in the Land of Oz. The story begins shortly after the death of the Wicked Witch of the East when Dorothy's house falls on her, and from there a retrospective is made to understand the story of Elphaba and Glinda, how they met and became friends. The show is wonderful and has an amazing cast, both vocally as theatrical. I turned instantly fan of Gina Beck, who plays Glinda. She made ​​me laugh several times and has a very good job!


At school, Glinda is a very pretty and popular girl who ends up becoming Elphaba's roommate, a green and strange girl with no social graces. By living together, the two end up becoming friends and Glinda tells Elphaba that she'll make of the strange girl her new project: she'll teach her to be popular, but not as much as her, of course! Spite of, at first glance, seems like Glinda is some kind of Sharpay (yes, references from High School Musical, judge me), she is actually a very sweet character. One of the most beautiful songs of the show is "For Good", a duet between Elphaba and Glinda and the proof of their friendship.

Wicked is a musical splendid and it was very worthwhile! I would certainly watch again if I had money, but as I still have a giant list of musicals to be watched, I think it's kinda hard. But it's a spectacle that I certainly I indicate for anyone who has the opportunity to watch.
